The Mysterious Sixth Sense: A Personal Experience

Have you ever experienced the mysterious phenomenon known as the sixth sense? This inexplicable intuition that suddenly strikes, hinting at possibilities lurking in the depths, leaves you with a feeling that's hard to articulate, yet you somehow have a vague understanding of certain things.

During the summer of my ninth-grade year, I had to visit my school, which was located in the county town. The weather was sweltering, and I was walking along a road cutting through the fields.

Out of the blue, I saw a distant relative of mine. He was busy with some wires, standing on a ladder leaning against a telephone pole in the middle of a rice field. He explained that he was setting up a wild pump (a pump powered by a direct wire from a power line strung across the field) to irrigate the parched rice fields.

I was struck with an intense, foreboding feeling, an inexplicable thought surfaced from within: this man could meet an unfortunate end. This thought was abrupt and quickly drowned in a sea of complex emotions. It was impossible to voice it out, to tell him, "You might not survive this."

Later that afternoon, I returned from school and was met with tragic news. A woman had found him submerged in water, with the wires still wrapped around his hand. She attempted to sever the wire with a hoe, but the handle detached unexpectedly... It remained unclear whether my distant relative had been electrocuted or drowned.

This was not the only time my sixth sense had been triggered. During my senior year in high school, after an unusually long study session, I saw a tall, skinny man limping down the stairs. He walked sideways like a crab, and it was evident he had twisted his ankle.

I was young and naive then, and my first instinct was to help him. But as the corridor lights flickered on, casting a dim light on his face, I was taken aback. His face was gaunt, elongated, a distorted version of the Taiwanese actor Wu Chun. But this man had a sharp, cruel look about him that gave me an intense feeling of foreboding. I decided to keep my head down and continue on my way.

Less than a year later, I heard that this man had stabbed his girlfriend nine times in public, leading to her tragic demise.

These experiences have convinced me of the reality of the sixth sense. While it may not always provide clear indications or be easy to interpret, I believe it can serve as an intuitive guide in our lives, helping us navigate potential dangers. However, it's also important to remember that intuition should never replace critical thinking and rational decision-making. The sixth sense, in essence, should be treated as one of many tools we can use to make informed decisions.
